Frequently Asked Questions

How do I submit my photos and printing data?

Digital photos should be sent as recorded by the camera, there is no need to resize them before sending. Files may be uploaded at this link.  Feel free to follow up with an email to include more instructions about the job. Small files may be emailed to myphotographic@optimum.net with instructions.

What format should my data be in?

We recommend the formats JPG, PSD, or TIFF for photo prints. We also accept PDF for other print media. Digital photos should be sent to us as recorded by the camera.

What resolution should my file be?

Files should be at native resolution, preferably at 300dpi.

What color profile should I shoot to achieve the best quality from my digital camera?

You should use the Adobe RGB (1998) color profile, when possible. This color profile was developed by Adobe and is widely used as a working color space because it provides a large and balanced color gamut that can be easily used for reproduction on a variety of devices.

Can I print images from my phone?

Yes you can. Files should be emailed “actual size” or “full resolution” to myphotographic@optimum.net with instructions.

What type of paper do you use?

We offer Lustre, Glossy, Matte, Fine Art papers, Canvas and Metallic finishes.

How long will it take to complete my order?

Our typical turnaround time on prints is 48 hours. Large orders or particular projects may vary. Plexiglass and Metal Prints have a two week turn around. A team member will contact you after receiving your order and at that point will address any questions or concerns. After this initial process the job will officially begin and you will be contacted when it’s done.

How do I care for my Plexiglass Prints?

We recommend using a clean, soft microfiber cloth to wipe the surface of your Plexiglass Print.  Never use Windex, water or solvents.

Hang Plexiglass prints in the destination environment as soon as possible.

If short-term storage is necessary then Plexiglass prints should be held in a temperature controlled environment between 50˚ - 70˚ F until ready to hang.

Treat your beautiful Plexiglass prints as you would any valuable piece of Art or Furniture by not exposing it to extreme temperatures and excessive, constant direct sunlight.

How do I care for my HD Metal Prints?

HD Metal Print can be wiped down with a soft cloth and any all-purpose cleaner. HD Metal panels are scratch resistant.

Can I display my HD Metal Prints outside?

Yes you can. The latest fade testing shows HD Metal prints will last a lifetime under normal conditions with resistance to yellowing and climate damage. They are 3 times more permanent than most images printed on Glossy media, exposed in identical conditions. Please let us know at the time you place your order if you will be displaying your prints outdoors.

I am not local to Photographic Solutions. Do you accept work by US mail, UPS, or FedEx?

We certainly do. We ask that you please use a carrier that offers tracking and insurability.

Can you ship my completed job back to me?

Yes we can. We ship via FedEx. Shipping charges will be added to your invoice unless you provide us with your valid shipping account number.

Why does my image have to be cropped?

In reality, the aspect ratio of an image as it was shot does not translate to standard print sizes. Often, if you would like to print your image "full frame" without any cropping, the image will have a border (see top photo below). In order to print the image without a border, the proportions force us to crop the edges of the image (see bottom photo).
